  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • Burgers
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 Combine all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Set aside 1 cup of sauce.
  • 2 Gently mix all burger ingredients, plus remaining sauce from the pan, until just combined. Form into 6 patties.
  • 3 Grill, covered, over medium heat for 6-8 minutes on each side. Baste with 1/2 cup of the reserved sauce during the last 5 minutes. Serve on buns with the toppings of your choce and the remaining sauce.
